KS1 Science
KS1 Science Taught Sessions:
- cost £3.00 per pupil (Minimum group charge of £66.00*)
- are led by a Museum Education Officer
- last 1 hour
- include hands-on practical activities
- are closely linked to the National Curriculum
- can be booked for classes of up to 36 children (some exceptions)
- include a Teachers' Pack with more information and resources

Who’s Afraid of the Dark?
Plop the owl is afraid of the dark. After briefly looking at a range of light sources, the children learn about electricity by constructing and combining simple circuits to make a light for him. Sc4/1a, 1b, 1c.
Who's Afraid of the Dark? can also help your pupils earn accreditation in the BA’s (British Association for the Advancement of Science) primary science award scheme as a CREST Star Investigator.

Light and Colour KS1
Little Bear can’t sleep because he is afraid of the dark. The children help to choose objects that will make light for him. Lots of practical activities to explore shadows, mirrors, colours and lenses. Sc4/3a, 3b.

Sound KS1
What can we hear around us? Why are some sounds different from others? Make and change sounds. A discussion, demonstrations and lots of activities. Sc4/3c, 3d.

Forces Y2
What are forces? What forces make objects move? How can they be measured? Sc4/2a, 2b, 2c.
Session available every weekday during school term time.
Neil Armstrong: Mission to the Moon
Join us in our Planetarium to learn about Neil and how he became the first man to set foot on the Moon. Includes a presentation on the stars of night sky and planets of the solar system. (Max. 30 including adults.) Hi 5c, Sc4/3a.

Please note that the sections of the Air and Space on the first floor balcony relating to space exploration and science fiction have now been closed pending redevelopment.
