For 200 years Manchester has been a hotbed of scientific discovery and innovation. This gallery tells the stories Peppers ghost of James Joule  of Manchester scientists, both past and present, and how their breakthroughs have shaped the modern world.  The spine of the gallery is a timeline featuring scientific achievements in Manchester against a backdrop of world science discoveries.  Four audio-visual 'holodecks' bring science to life and will immerse you in the fascinating worlds of John Dalton, James Joule, Ernest Rutherford and Sir Bernard Lovell.
