The Journey of Cotton
It's round and soft,
like a white squishy cherry,
fluffy as a cloud.
It looks like a child's frizzy hair
and makes me think of a bright blue sky.
Soft and squishy,
the colour of ice-cream.
Hard sharp spikes,
silver nails
like a giant dog comb.
Soft, fluffy and squishy,
like whipped cream.
Yellowy cream
like ice-cream.
Like seaweed
or spaghetti.
It reminds me of a rolling pin.
It's hard and white,
the shape of a submarine.
It looks like a fat pencil.
It's stringy
and feels like a spider's web.
It looks like someone is brushing their hair.
It's square, with threads
of white, yellow and green.
It's like a blanket,
it's like a cloud.
It never makes a sound
since it was found.
It's hard as stone
brown as fudge,
and dark as chocolate.
